Walking the Ridgeway: Foxhill to Ashbury Folly

The Ridgeway – Foxhill to Ashbury Folly (3.5 miles)

I began the walk where I last left off, from Foxhill, and headed onto the hills once more after the brief stint on the road.

Charlbury Hill and trig point. From here you can see back to the Foxhill radio mast.

Charlbury Hill is an interesting place to explore, if you take a slight detour off the route. It also features a trig point, so you can see for miles in many directions around. A useful place to get your bearings for the rest of the route.

Ridgeway sign — Keep following these signs for the Ridgeway and you'll be fine. Just be careful not to follow a bridleway by mistake.

Ridgeway information maps — These maps are your companion along the whole Ridgeway, and contain some very useful information about places to visit and users of the Ridgeway.

As I continued on, I encountered an interesting dwelling – a clearly inhabited van/house, with a Brazilian flag flying overhead. The hot water brewing over a stove reminded me it was definitely time for a tea break! Next stop Ashbury Folly.
