What's that creature? A swift stoat sighting

On a recent holiday to the south of France, I came across this little fellow. He darted from one side of the track to the other, before taking a flying leap into the hedgerow.

After a bit more patience and a camera at the ready, I caught this little guy poking his head out of a hollow in a tree.
